SOLO REPORT: (Al Hermans)

Please give schedule updates.

Divisional coming up this weekend.  69 entered for both days and 5 more on Saturday and 12 more on Sunday.  This event will score regional points.

We have added points events on weekend of October 10 & 11.  11 registered for both days and 2 for Saturday only.  Co-hosting with Kansas Region.

Both events are at Heartland Motorsports Park.

Mike: Will there be enough points for a championship series? If Oct 10 & 11 works out we could call a season. Is Tara working on sending out emails for these events? Who can send for the Solo group? Mike to follow up with Tara.

Arrowhead Venue Negotiations (Jeremy S): Still working and discussing with contacts at Arrowhead on when and if events an occur, there is a meeting tomorrow where we will present our schedule. Working out financials for the events still. We are hoping to hold our Halloweenie charity event there. We are hoping to get 10 events for next year at this venue.

MEMBERSHIP REPORT: (Paula Diehl)
End of August: 569 members for the Region, 14 expired during the month.

KVRG REPORT: (Chris Kern)
Petitioning the national office for a six race Majors series in 2021, 2 each at three venues; Heartland Park, Gateway and Hallett. Trying to secure Majors road racing in the Midwest division from April through August.

Track Night coming on the 15. September, we had a big turnout for workers. Will need workers for the TNA in October.

Lake Garnett GP coming up in Oct. 9-11. We are looking for workers. Contact Chris for details.

RALLY CROSS REPORT: (Mark Macoubrie/Reuben)
Mark: had two events Oct 24 and then November, Oct postponed due to a national event.

Had the Naturally Aspirated down on I-635 by the river. Found a good course and was very free flowing. Had 42 entrants and had 9 runs. No event issues. Raised about $1000 for charity from event. Car show at same time and had spectators from that event come to the RX. Hoping to continue relationship with the city of Riverside.

WEB REPORT: (Mike McGinley)
Will update the website for the latest news up tomorrow. First 22 days only had 5400 visits down 24%. Do we get hits from Live timing, we have not been using this function due to lack of Solo events,  so this could be part of the 24% decrease in activity.

OTHER BUSINESS
RE Mike McGinely’s summary to the Board about a 9/30 video conference with Mike Cobb the CEO of SCCA:

Topics

  1. SCCA announced a partnership with the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA). At this point it is unclear what all will be involved with this partnership, but it will eventually provide a training path for workers, stewards, and marshals with certifications upon completion of online curriculum using the new LMS platform on SCCA.com. IMSA is also an aspirational series for amateur drivers and there could be paths for certain classes into IMSA series.
  2. Junior Driver Program in Solo. The national BOD had a call last week and will make recommendations in November. The program is still “on hold.”
  3. TNiA has had 40,000 participants in the 1st 5 years and continues to be an outstanding success. Over 20,000 of those attendees are new to the SCCA.
  4. Sportscar Magazine – In an effort to save money the Dec/Jan/Feb issues will be combined to one issue saving printing/mailing costs on 2 issues. Don’t be surprised when 2 issues don’t show up.
  5. E-Learning (LMS) – SCCA is close to launching online learning via the Freestone Learning Management Series on SCCA.com for training in multiple areas of the SCCA. There will be a new tab in the “Member Resources” area labeled “My Learning” in the near future. It should be available to all members next year.
  6. The 2021 National Convention in Las Vegas normally scheduled for mid-January has been CANCELLED. They will be some sort of video content rolled out in the 1st quarter of 2021.

Call for Bill J motion to adjourn and Tim F. second, motion carried, 8:37
