The Kansas City Region SCCA Board Meeting was called to order by RE Mike McGinley via teleconference on March 26, 2020 at 7:00 pm.  

Board Members present: Paula Diehl, Tim Friest, Jessica Dorn, Mike McGinley, Jeremy Salenius, Tara Young, Ed Nicholson,  Reuben Samuels, Bill Johnson and Al Hermans 

Board Members not attending:  Greg Cheney

Guests: Chris Kern  

Mike McGinley: National office working with limited staff. Rest of the year will be a challenge. Be sure if we have contracts that we can get deposits back. 

Bill Johnson made a motion that this meeting supersedes the regular meeting due to Covid 19, Ed Nicholson seconds, approved all. 

SECRETARY REPORT (Ed Nicholson, Secretary): Jessica made a motion to approve the minutes; Paula seconded. Motion passed unanimously. 

TREASURER REPORT* (Jessica Dorn):   

February 2020 

Starting Cash:             $23,839.76 
Starting CD $89222.37 
Ending CD $89,250.54 
Ending Cash:             $16,214.25 
Ending Balance $105,464.49 

Discussion that the awards banquet was higher than expected. We need to get more details on the ending amount. Will be taking this into account for the 2021 banquet. 

Jessica, need approval for the go baby go check. Ed makes a motion to approve check, Tim second, all approved. 

Paula made the motion to approve, Bill second, all approved.

MEMBERSHIP REPORT (Paula Diehl, Membership Chair): Members 577 SCCA. This makes KCRSCCA a region leader. 

Tim, how do we retain members? Try to keep members engaged so they know what is going on. Do we try virtual racing? We need to start the discussion around this issue. Shall we use R factor. Is there a way to go cross platforms? Mike, Share ideas and lets see if there is traction for road racing. Need to highlight the other member benefits. 

SOLO REPORT (Al Hermans, Solo Chair):   

Region schedule (confirmed with MCC): 

  • April 4 & 5 – T&T and Event #1 – Cancelled – Refunds and credits were issued or reinstated on March 23, looking at rescheduling if possible (event #1 only) 
  • April 25 & 26 – Novice School and Event #2 – Threatened (waiting to see if County extends stay at home order beyond April 24) 
  • May 16 & 17 – Events 3 and 4 (Topeka MiDiv) 
  • May 30 & 31 – Street Survival and Event #5 
  • June 21 – Event #6 
  • July 25 & 26 – Starting Line and Event #7 
  • August 15 & 16 – School and Event #8 
  • September 20 – Event #9 
  • October 11 – Event #10 
  • October 25 – Event #11 (Halloweenie) 

Sanctions have been received from the national office. 

I have not heard back from MCC on a couple of questions I asked of them. 

What are MCC’s policies re: coronavirus and activities on MCC property 

A question about additional charges for one of the security officers on Sundays. 

At the moment we are not under contact with MCC. 

Is the school shutdown until July? Tara will reach out on April 15th. 

KVRG REPORT (Chris Kern, KVRG Board Member): 
April Majors postponed to July. 

Track nights down until we know more concerning Convid 19 restrictions. 

RALLYCROSS REPORT (Dan Colbern, Rallycross Chair): Rueben reporting 
We have cancelled both events for early in the year. MSR great for canceling and getting refunds out. 

Have sanctioning approved through April if things change. 

New stickers to be picked up, could we sell on line. 

Dan, has been working on budget. 

I-70, still working on using this venue. 

ROADRALLY REPORT (David Williams reported): No report per Mike. 

SPECIAL COMMITTEES: 
Web Report (Mike McGinley): 
All cancellations updated.  

All grants for track night on hold. 

Social Events (Lisa) : 
No report, beer rally cancelled. 

Should we move the awards to same venue as KVRG? Paula to work with Lisa.

Still waiting on rally cross or road rally, Reuben and mike will reach out to find the budget. 

Jessica, spotlighted on website this month.  

Each officer to write an article a quarter, challenge by Mike. Deadline is the 20th on the month. 

Do a blast from the past, who has old news letters? Chris will share the archive.

We are not having a general meeting in April.
