SOLO REPORT: (Al Hermans)
Events #3 and #4 were held on June 18 & 19. Event #3 had 71 entries and event #4 had 75 entries. Event #4 results are posted on the region website. Event #3 results do not appear to be linked from schedule and results within the autocross pull down tab. There was one safety incident where a vehicle backed into another in grid at low speed. The event audit has been posted to the national website and the safety incident report has yet to be filed.

The Starting Line school on July 16 is coming along. Registration is available on the national website https://www.scca.com/events/2001074-scca-starting-line-kansas-city-metropolitan-community-college. Registration is also available on MSR https://www.motorsportreg.com/events/scca-national-starting-line-metropolitan-community-college-driver-school-659924. They are looking for help with instruction as we are at 13 registered as of yesterday. Event #5 will follow on Sunday.

Street Survival is proceeding on August 20. Spread the word. Volunteers (instructors and course workers) are welcome. Instructors may need to do an online training session if they have not already done so. Registration is available on the national website https://www.scca.com/events/2001218-kansas-city-region-tire-rack-street-survival-metropolitan-community-college. Also on MSR https://www.motorsportreg.com/events/scca-national-starting-line-metropolitan-community-college-driver-school-659924. Event #6 will follow on Sunday.

New cones have arrived at Phil Meredith’s house. They will be delivered to the trailer in groups as needed based on how many will fit in his vehicle.

RALLYCROSS REPORT: (Nils, not present but was read by Ed)

Numbers from last event:
Our total number of drivers for the weekend was 39. We had 13 family entries at $40 and 24 regular entries at $45. We had one driver run both heats and pay two entry fees. Our net revenue after MSREG fees was $1,579.34. With site fees and consumables. Total profit for the weekend is $817.80.

Weekend overview:
Thankfully, the weather finally cooperated with us and we were able to have an event. The site was bone dry, which we were excited about at first but presented other problems later on. No large safety concerns and the event ran well, with the only thing truly slowing us down being timing issues. Morning ran well with drivers getting in 4 runs on a course that lasted roughly 70 seconds. As the day progressed the amount of dust being spread out into the air increased. As this dust wafted towards our timing lights, our issues began. Lots of double finishes and a few false starts slowed the heat 1 afternoon runs to a crawl. By the end we had to run cars one at a time to insure no double finishes would happen. Many re-runs were given but the site held up well, with our safety team only having to make minor adjustment throughout the day. In our heat 2 afternoon runs which consisted primarily of 2WD cars we had almost no issues with double finishes and were able to complete the rest of the day in good order. Unfortunately due to these timing issues, we were only able to do 3 runs in the afternoon leaving with 7 for the day. One short of our 8 run goal.

Evaluating different timing methods:
Early last year there was some experimenting with a hose system that does not have the same pitfalls as the lazer system when it comes to dust. This project was headed by Reuben Samuels and unfortunately, much of the research and knowledge of this secondary system, left with him.

The RAC is interested in trying to make the hose system the primary system of timing for RX, as to avoid the issues we had with timing this weekend. While we do not think it will be ready in time for our July 10th event at I-35 speedway, we are hoping we can find a way to implement it in the near future.

Upcoming events:
Event #4 @ I-35 Speedway Winston on July 10th
Event #5 @ Thunder Valley Sand Drags on August 28th

KVRG REPORT: (Chris Kern and Mike McGinley)
Heartland Park, do not have race entries numbers but about 22 TT entries and about 60 racers. Had an income for the event of $45,289.80 and expenses of $48874.56 for a net loss of $3584.76. We did elect to pay workers at the track and needed to pay Heartland for additional help, this led to us having the loss.

Ozark CFR school in March, we had kudos from the national office. Our expense $3056.00.

Ozark, 50 race entries and 20 for TT. We had an income for the event of $45,126.48 with expenses of $46,007.66 for a net loss of $881.66, the expenses include the CRF school expense of $3056.00 and some guard rail damage to the track of $2560.00. We also elected to have Tilly’s cater the Saturday evening dinner instead of cooking ourselves as planned and was a big hit with the participants.

Given results from this year we will be looking closely at holding events at these venues onto the future. How do we get more drivers and workers to our events?

Need more volunteers for next year, need to study how to recruit and maintain.

Track Night in America – July 21 and we need help, help, help.

Will be looking for two nominees to run for the KVRG board for next year. Given the numbers above we need enthusiastic individuals to help lead us onto the future.

OLD BUSINESS
Please add to the discussion that I have spoken with Tanner at Pathlight Brewery and he was not opposed to our meeting there on Tuesdays. He asked that I email him and Beth with the details. I have not heard back yet.

  • The caveat is there is no food and we would have to drink their beer, which is good! We can bring in our own food. There is a Marco’s pizza, Churches, and BBQ in the area. They are closed on Tuesdays so he would need numbers in order to staff and I told him around 10 on the last Tuesday of the month and 20, trying to grow it to 40, on the first Tuesday of the month.
  • There are some other venues opening in the coming future in Shawnee, further investigation needed.

NEW BUSINESS:
