SOLO REPORT (Al Hermans)
We have held 4 solo events since the last BOD meeting:
- Event #3 on July 31 attracted 72 people
- Event #4 on August 1 attracted 70 people
- Event #5 on August 21 drew 82 people
- Event #6 on August 22 drew 75 people
Our next events are September 18 & 19. Registration should open soon.
Solo Nationals is next week and has 1,133 entries so far with a cap of 1,300. A group paddock area for KC and KS Regions has been set up in Row 6, right by the site entry.
MEMBERSHIP REPORT: (Paula Diehl)
Current membership: 563. 12 new members.
Lisa: Could we do some sort of a legacy program for new members related to long time members? Creating a pin or a decal for new members closely related to current members. Or maybe a dash plaque, magnetic. Board to think of legacy ideas, might even present something to the families. Challenge for all to brainstorm for next meeting.
KVRG REPORT (Chris Kern):
Heartland Park working on dates for next year.
Need workers for Heartland Park for track night 9-14.
September 19 for a TT event at MAM will need workers for this event as well. MAM has passed its track inspection, Hastings waiting for its inspections.
Lake Garnett coming on 9th and 10th of October, workers needed.
RALLYCROSS REPORT (Nile Davis, not present so report was read by Ed):
Numbers from 8/15/21 event:
Our total number of drivers for the weekend was 37. We had 12 family entries at $40, and 25 standard entries at $45. We sold 7 stickers at $5 per and 11 weekend memberships. Our gross revenue for the weekend was $1,750.00.
Event Weekend Quick Recap:
Our last event at I-35 went nearly as smoothly as it could, with no large issues with timing or our equipment, thanks in part to Mark Macoubrie donating new radios to the club. This was a model event for how things should be run and I am looking forward to having more events just like this. Big thanks to everyone who helped things run as smoothly as they did.
Riverside Site News:
We were informed late last week that the land we use for our Riverside site is being sold and we are no longer able to use the site. This is unfortunate as Riverside brought in fairly large crowds of interested people and even led to a few new competitors. Niles will be attending the town hall meeting next week in Riverside to thank the city for the use of the site and hopefully pursue an opportunity for another site in Riverside. While this is a blow to the program, we still have great sites at I-35 and Thunder Valley Sand Drags that we can run at. Of course we are always searching for new sites and will continue to do so.
Upcoming events:
With the loss of the Riverside site, the next event in September will be moved to TVSD and all future dates will be moved to either TVSD or I-35 Speedway. We have also decided to cancel our October event due to scheduling conflicts with other regions, and nationals.
Looking forward to the next event!

OLD BUSINESS
- Any additional conversations on a vehicle wrap paid by sponsors?
- Greg: regarding the wrap on the new van and trailer, will be getting with Rueben to move forward.
- AxWare license: Reuben feels everyone needing a license has one? Paul and Paula are still in need of a license.
- 2021 Awards Banquet updates: Lisa Kern, Paula. Looking for a place asked at Downtown Marriott, Deer Creek will be sending a quote and Ritz Carlton no Buffet @ $36 per plate. Lisa will be following up with a couple more options. Right now.
- 1. Fiorella’s – They came down on their price from 4K to 3K for a food/beverage minimum. I will request menu options.
- Deer Creek – They are supposed to be emailing me a quote. I have not received it yet.
- 3. KC Marriott on Country Club Plaza – Food/Bev minimum: 3K. Parking is $10 and we’d have to cart all of our loot (trophies, etc.) up elevators. Let’s scrap this one.
- Holiday Inn – I-35 & 87th St – I have asked them if date is available and to email me a quote. Still waiting.
- Election Committee report (Greg Cheney): We have 3 BOD positions, RE, Assist. RE, Secretary, and Solo and Rallycross advisory positions to fill.
- A request was made to the Solo group for candidates for upcoming elections on Saturday and Sunday at the autocross event. Got no response.
- Todd Wicker from RX will run for a board position.
- Talked with April Turner and she is considering running for the board.
- It’s about time to start asking members one on one.
- Future event plans: Go carts, picnic.
- Road Rally: Paula will be submitting an article for the Check Point to see about interest. Rally to be posted on Facebook.
- Go carts had been done as part of the January meeting, we will pursue. Need to find the trophy.
- Lisa would like a list of women and children gender and age of SCCA members to see about targeting these groups. How to attract new members.
- Lisa, could we do our own version of Street Survival? Discussion about this thought it might be a stretch for the club and that the existing program was working well so should look to that.
NEW BUSINESS:
- Sale of old van to Dan Colburn: Offer of $500. Any other options or interest? Mike McGinley will lead discussion. Tim made a motion to sell to Dan, Bill seconded. Jessica was a Nay rest were aye and the motion has passed. Dan will need to have the van unwrapped.
- Ozark International Raceway: Mike McGinley and Bill Johnson reported on our visit 8/16. Met with owner of the track and was accompanied by folks form national office. Site is impressive. Track is close to ready with second FIA inspection coming soon. Track can be challenging for drivers as walls are close to the track in many areas. Division could put on an event as early as next year. At this time cost to rent the track is unknown. We are putting a date on the schedule for next year and will be working out the details later?
- Board meeting by email for September and face to face moved to the general meeting for October due to the Ruin Offs.
Tim made a motion to skip the general meeting for September because of the National Solo’s and Bill second that motion, motion passed.
Call for motion to adjourn
Bill made a motion to adjourn and Chris second motion passed. Meeting ended at 9:40.
