SOLO REPORT: (Al Hermans)

T&T and Event #1 were held on March 25 & 26.  58 people were at the T&T and 112 came to Event #1.  Both days started a bit damp and chilly and while the T&T warmed up nicely, the chilly stayed for Event #1. Both days courses were fun if you stayed on the pavement. Not so much if you went off as the grass was a slippery muddy mess. The results are posted on the website but there are a couple of issues that need to be resolved.

Registration for the MiDiv (Events 2 & 3) being held on April 29 & 30 is open now. There are currently 145 entries shown in MSR (two-day entries are listed twice). Registration and tech will start at 5:30 PM on April 28. You can also check in on Saturday or Sunday morning by appointment.

All coming regional events are listed in MSR through the end of the season. They will open 4 or so weeks ahead of time. All event dates have been reserved at MCC.

The Street Survival school is open. It is capped at 24 students and will be held on August 26.  We will need instructors and volunteers, especially at registration and tech. If you want to instruct, there is an online tutorial that is required to be taken. For those unsure, we are not teaching technique, just guiding them through some basic exercises. Having a rapport with the students is as important, if not more so, than driving skills. Spread the word amongst friends, neighbors, schoolmates, etc. Street Survival will be sending out an email blast to past students and others in their database soon.

RALLY CROSS REPORT: (Niles)

Summary of April 2nd event at I-35 Speedway:

  • 38 drivers
  • 8 runs total (4 morning, 4 afternoon)
  • All in all good event with many folks reporting that they had a great time!
  • A vehicle broke a balljoint on course which took time to remove from the course, but is a part of racing. Big thanks to Mark Macoubrie for allowing the use of his truck and trailer to remove the vehicle from the course.

Event Issues

  • Axware crashed twice during the event with no warning. Rebooting the software fixed this issue in the moment, however this is something that needs to be resolved, as it causes unnecessary event slowdown.
  • One of our antenna tripods for the start/finish is missing a bolt for one of its supports and as a result, had fallen down during the event. This tripod either needs repaired or replaced.
  • During the van cleanout, Niles found KCRX Stickers in a tote. This tote was not present in the van for the event. Stickers were offered as something to purchase on MSREG, however we were unable to provide them. Does anyone know where they are?
  • There were not enough wristbands in the trailer for the event. The program’s understanding is that there were more than enough wristbands for AX. Does anyone know where those wristbands are before putting in an order for more?

Van Issues

  • When driving on rough roads, the steering wheel wobbles aggressively.
  • Van needs shocks, bounces driver nearly out of their seat when hitting rough bumps.
  • The CEL and SRS lights are on. These need to be diagnosed.
  • In the morning, when ambient temps were around 40 degrees, driving 75 mph up to Winston was fine. Temp gauge stayed just below 210. On the way back, driving 75 mph would cause the temp gauge to rise up to 240. Hills would exacerbate this issue. If the heat is turned up to full blast, the temp would return to below 210. The program is worried that extended periods of the van running at or around 240 will cause issues similar to what happened before, with the van blowing out a heater valve.

Van issues to be addressed for the check engine.

We are keeping BHR on as a sponsor to thank them for their past sponsorship and continuing support.

KVRG REPORT: (Chris Kern)
Sups are done and approved Heartland and Ozark, rolling along fine tuning the event. Need help in all worker facets of the event.

Need help for the upcoming events at both events. Grand Prix with bus stop. Will be having a drag event this year with traffic in the paddock.

Shall we offer an autocross entry for those who work the race at Heartland?

There will be a Midiv TT at Heartland.

Guy: Summit has banned EV’s from their track. Chris, discussion is going on at SCCA about EV’s in racing. Some tracks are taking a different view on EV’s from that of the SCCA.

There is a book from the KCRSCCA archives if you are interested come look at it. There are four of these books and they are a fascinating window into our past.
