The Kansas City Region SCCA Board Meeting was called to order by RE Paula Diehl at The Bar on September 24, 2019 at 7:01 pm.

Board Members present: Chris Kern, Paula Diehl, Tim Friest, Lisa Kern, Jessica Dorn, Bill Johnson, Mike McGinley, Jeremy Salenius, Todd Hesskamp

Absent: Al Hermans, Tara Young

SECRETARY REPORT (Lisa Kern, Secretary):  
Minutes from August 27, 2019 Board Meeting were approved. Todd Hesskamp made a motion to approve the minutes; Jessica Dorn seconded.  Motion passed unanimously.

TREASURER REPORT* (Jessica Dorn, Treasurer): 
Mike McGinley a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report; Todd Hesskamp seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

MEMBERSHIP REPORT (Paula Diehl, Membership Chair):  560

SOLO REPORT (Al Hermans, Solo Chair):  
Re-scheduled Event #6 was held on September 15; 104 people participated.

Event #9 was held on September 22. The weather was bad so we only had 70 people.

Our next events are on October 13 and the Halloweenie on October 27. We will be donating to Go Baby Go again with the proceeds from the event.

Solo nationals were held during the first week of September. Thirty region members participated and 4 received trophies, including 2 national champions, Craig Wilcox and Keith Lamming. More complete results can be found in the September Checkpoint.

KVRG REPORT (Chris Kern, KVRG Board Member):
We changed next year’s May date to April 18-19, 2020. There will be no test day on April 17.

We are working on flyers Ken Prather is going to take to the Runoffs so we can save the date for the April event.

We plan on sending out Email blast, etc. We’re still working on July/August date.  Still waiting to hear from Topeka re: schedules, etc.

Hastings goes up for auction next mo.

It’s time to appoint KVRG Board Members for next year. Everyone agreed to keep the same officers: Mike, Chris, Charlie C (Tim stand in)

RALLYCROSS REPORT (David Williams, Rallycross Chair):
Committee Items

  • 9/24 – DirtFish RallyCross National Championship was this past weekend in Indianola, IA and it was a sloppy mess of an event. We did have two trophy winners from the KC Region:
    • Mark Hill – 1st PA
    • Mark Macoubrie – 2nd PA

  • October 19 – Event #3 – Thunder Valley Sand Drags
  • October 20 – Event #7 @ Thunder Valley Sand Drags

ROADRALLY REPORT (David Williams reported):
We are planning on a Gimmick Poker Road Rally on Sat., Nov 9, 2019 – We will start at Killcreek Park and make our way to Blue Jacket Winery then to White Tail and end up at KC Wine Co.

$20/car
Non-members must buy a w/e membership for $15 (covered by the $20/pp)
Winner will receive a Flat screen tv

SPECIAL COMMITTEES:
Web Report (Mike McGinley):
Midam points are posted (8 midam champions in KCR). Quite a few 2nd/3rd place. Article will be made to recognize this. Middiv time trial series has been made. Total of 24 events. Mid states div championship – didn’t release report until recently. Has 3 KCR champions in the major series (Bill Johnson, David Vincent, Mike McGinley) – added to website. Flyer has also been added to website

Social Events (Lisa Kern): Nothing new to report

  1. Awards Banquet – Bill and Jeremy to check out The Grand Café.
  2. Lisa to work on a beer social
  3. Nov 15 Ford vs Ferrari movie (trailers) – Fork & Screen – 435/Midland B&B Theatres (car show possibility) coffee and then Noon/1p show; cocktail.  Lisa to contact James King, B&B Manager
  4. F1 watch (Mexico Oct 27 @ 2:10p CST, Brazil Nov 17 @ 11:10a 2h ahead, US Nov 3 @ 1:10p in Austin, TX CST)
  5. More social events are wanted

OLD BUSINESS:
Nominating Committee – 2019 Elections in December

NEW BUSINESS: 
IRS FOUND US – We made over $1,300 and now it’s taxable. We wrote a letter of appeal and let them know it was club related funds. Jessica will call Neava Ford/David Long. Todd Hesskamp made motion to pay $93 and have Neava Ford and David Long share how we should implement these funds in the future; Mike McGinley seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

Hybrid extrication.  There are additional vehicles.
Jessica to talk to JC fire dept. (OPKS training center was not receptive)
Chris will talk with Topeka and HMP.  (Chris is working on updating this.)

There being no further business, Chris Kern made a motion to adjourn; Tim Friest seconded. Motion passed unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 8:25 pm.
