At our November General Meeting we had our final “Call for Candidates,” and at the close of the meeting the candidate nominations were officially closed.

All current KC Region SCCA members are strongly encouraged to vote, and ballots must be cast by the Annual Meeting on Tuesday, December 7, 2021.

Paper ballots mailed to the region or submitted to the secretary at the Annual Meeting will be entered into this electronic ballot (and the timestamp will be recorded as the time of entry). You may edit your vote or submit a new ballot (before the deadline), but only the last submitted ballot will be counted (earlier ballots will be ignored completely).

Thanks for voting and we look forward to seeing you at our December 7th meeting!

Regional Executive

KC Region & SCCA involvement:

  • Current board member
  • Region board member sometime in the 90’s.
  • RE 2005-2006 during the Runoffs at HPT years
  • KVRG chairman 2007-2008
  • Midwest Division scheduling administrator 2011-2013
  • Chairman Formula / Sports Racer Advisory Committee 2016-2018
  • Currently hold a national stewards license and competition license

Started in the club in Solo, the first date with my wife was a solo in Topeka, Kansas. Currently an active road racer in Formula Continental.

Was very lucky to be RE of our region when the Runoffs were at Heartland Park. As RE tried to represent our region with a positive and professional manner to the community, the national office and other regions in our division.  Our region was highly regarded and won the Outstanding Region award – still the only trophy that I have displayed at home.

Worked hard to get new people involved, divide the responsibilities and spread the opportunities.

Saw the revival of the rally program, had our first Road Rally in many years thanks to Rich Bireta and Albert Weaver.

Actively worked to improve support for the solo program from other areas of our region and to highlight their value to our region. Worked to make sure our solo program had reliable working equipment and worked to provide the resources for any needed supplies, even the infamous truck.

Helped develop a sound control policy to help protect our solo departments greatest asset which at the time was the Arrowhead stadium parking lot.

For several years was the Chairman of the Formula Sports Racer Advisory Committee, aka the FSRAC, a “below the radar” group that researches all the rules changes and performance balancing for all of the formula and sports racer classes in road racing and makes recommendations to the CRB for a course of action.

While my term as board member is up, I would appreciate the opportunity to continue serving our region as RE.

Assistant Regional Executive

The Kansas City Region of the SCCA is one of the most stable regions in the nation. We have maintained a membership of over 550 members during this time of cancellations and uncertainties for over a year. New challenges have been created due to the pandemic. Our Board must be able to adapt to be more flexible and more open to new ways of doing things.

  • I have served this region in a number of different roles: two years as the Checkpoint editor, two years as your Secretary, three years as your Treasurer and one year as your Secretary pro-temp.
  • I was also honored to serve for two years as your Regional Executive and two years as your Past RE.

I am humbly asking for your vote for Assistant Regional Executive of the KC Region. I believe we have the membership talent and the tools to move this great region forward to a bright and prosperous future that can meet the needs of a diverse and growing membership. Thank you for your consideration.

SAC

KC Region & SCCA involvement:

I started solo in 2019 attending events at MCC, HPT, Salina and made a trip to Wichita. In 2020, I participated at events at HPT, Salina, and Lincoln.  I completed the Safety Training and have been a Safety at HPT, MCC, Lincoln as well as Course Chief at the Pro Solo in 2020.

I have been around the SCCA for most of my adult life, I attended the spec racing school at Hallett, been to the runoffs numerous times as a spectator, raced karts for a few years and had two GTI’s but may switch it up for 2022. My kids are in college and working as a Nurse so now have ample time for board work.

I would like to be on the committee for the upcoming 2022 season to continue to support what is already a great solo program. As a member of the advisory committee I would:

  • Enlist the feedback of active members in the program on what they would like to see in the program.
  • Focus on getting those just starting in the program with a coach/mentor.
  • Find alternative sites – this will be tough as MCC is a great site, the site is getting more popular with Drift and Porsche club.
  • Work with the other regions – I have really learned a lot from attending events in other regions and frankly met a lot of great people.

Thanks for consideration and look forward to being a member of the committee.
