After the pandemic cancelled our 2020 Awards Banquet, the Board of Directors wanted to come back strong with the 2021 Awards Banquet. Lisa Kern, spearheaded the event planning and secured us a site at the Deer Creek Golf Club. While this was postponed due to a resurgence in pandemic precautions, we were able to pull it off days before Deer Creek closed its doors for good.

As always, Lisa put on an exceptional event, adding in her own personal touches with cone center pieces, candy at the tables, and event some puzzles to keep wandering minds focused.

Hopps Catering prepared a delicious buffet with a seasonal salad, grilled Tuscan chicken paillard, orange ginger smoked pork tenderloin, roasted vegetable medley, and rosemary roasted potatoes. Dessert was a layered vanilla cake with cream cheese frosting—before the cake was all cut up, it had the KCR SCCA logo on it and looked fantastic!

Remember that member who said they would wear a dress to the banquet because that is how much he missed everyone? Well it was none other than Dick Berger. We presented him with a zebra-striped toga dress and he was thrilled to wear it around.

All in all a great time was had by all members. We hosted a silent auction table to benefit Variety KC—Go Baby Go. Thanks to all those who donated items for the auction and to all those who bid and donated, we were able to raise $855 for this fantastic charity.
