SOLO REPORT: (Al Hermans)

Please give schedule updates.

MCC has cancelled all on campus activities until the end of the year. This includes the PDC so we are done for the year absent any dates we might secure elsewhere.

I sent an e-mail yesterday to the contact at Arrowhead but have not received a response yet. I have been in contact with KS Region about events at HMP. The preference of the KSR BOD is to share events as opposed to KCR running an event or two there. There was no opposition to making KSR events points events for KCR, including the Divisional in October which is being run entirely by KSR.

There is a difference of opinion on the KSR BOD as to how to split any event proceeds. Some would like a 60:40 distribution, others prefer 50:50 as we have been doing for a number of years.

There is a question as to whether there are any open dates at HMP that we could add an event on. Brian Teft is checking.  The only scheduled event left is the divisional.

Divisional Schedule:

  • May 16 & 17 (Topeka, KS) – Postponed to October 3 & 4
  • June 6 & 7 (Salina, KS) – Finished
  • June 20 & 21 (Neosho, MO) – Cancelled
  • July 11 & 12 (St. Louis, MO) – Cancelled
  • August 8 & 9 (Lincoln, NE) – Finished

National Schedule:

  • Spring Nationals (Lincoln, NE) – Cancelled
  • Solo Nationals – Cancelled
  • 4 National Tour events have been scheduled to finish out the year.

Discussion on pulling points between regions duel events.

Not heard back from Arrowhead at this point about a Solo event there. Jessica has information on discussions to use this site. The Board agreed we needed to follow up and get an event set up at Arrowhead ASAP dependent on pricing.

MEMBERSHIP REPORT: (Paula Diehl)
573 members. SCCA 17 new, but some were just expired over 30 days.

KVRG REPORT: (Chris Kern)
Our race event successful working on 2021 schedule currently.

Track Night – We had a great turnout by drivers but not enough workers. We were close to not being able to support. Next date is September 15th. The Board agreed to promote working the event on Facebook and to send an email about working the event and the benefits.

RALLY CROSS REPORT: (Dan Colburn/Reuben)
August event had a rain come in and that postponed the event. Had to pay $250 to fix some damage from moving out of the site, other expenses made us up to a $400 loss.

National Dirt Fish Event at Heartland Motorsports Park went well considering the event site change, KCR and Kansas region worked together. Made $600 on test and tune sold 40 packs of decals as well. There were 111 total entries for the event. 20 drivers from KCR and 5 podium finishers for us.

Event rescheduled for September 6th will be at Thunder Valley.

Reuben has been working on a new venue in Riverside, and it has been approved by the mayor. We can have the site for free. We may have an event there by the end of September. We are working on the contract now.  An alternative is Stonegate on September 26th test day and 27th race.

The Board discussed an issue with the timing equipment, national office has same issue with false timing. Pressure hoses maybe the answer rather than the timing lights. There was discussion of if we already owned pressure hoses and looking at other equipment. We may have a sponsor willing to pay for purchase of new equipment. Greg Cheney contacted Doug Patterson to discuss the interface with our timing system.

Per Doug P via Greg.

  • I asked Doug if he knew whether we had Farmtek timing equipment that would use pneumatic hoses.
  • He replied No. JA Circuits gear is more suited to custom switches.
  • He will look at Farmtek triggering protocols but did not think it was a simple thing.
  • I suggest we get in touch with Dan Wheeler and James Cahill for more info.

Instagram bringing in additional interest to Rally X and KCR.

Paypal has been a huge help selling decals outside of region.

WEB REPORT: (Mike McGinley)
9800 website visitors last month. All event dates will be updated this week. We have dropped the Forum due to lack of usage since it has been replaced with Facebook.

COMMITTEES

OLD BUSINESS:
Ed reported that the committee did have a meeting and was reaching out to find nominees. We started with current board and Ed Nicholson and Jessica Dorn will be running for next terms as secretary and treasurer respectively. Committee to meet again on September 1st.

NEW BUSINESS:

The Board held conversations on whether or not to plan an Awards Banquet for 2020 given the possibility of continued Covid 19 concerns. The Board is considering not have a big meeting but may look into three smaller gatherings one each for Solo, Rally X and Racing. Jeremy Salenius offered the use of his shop for Award Events. Other options were also discussed with each group having an event tailored to their desires.

Call for motion to adjourn Greg and Reuben second, motion carried, 8:37

Respectfully submitted,
Edward Nicholson
SCCA Board Secretary
