BOD – REGIONAL EXECUTIVE
Paula Diehl
The Kansas City Region of the SCCA is one of the most stable regions in the nation. We have grown to a membership of over 620 members over the past year.
I have served this region in a number of different roles:
- two years as the Checkpoint editor
- two years as your Secretary
- three years as your Treasurer
- one year as your Secretary pro-temp
- I was also honored to serve for two years as your Regional Executive and two years as your Past RE.
I am humbly asking for your vote as Regional Executive of the KC Region. I believe we have the membership talent and the tools to move this great region forward to a bright and prosperous future. It is my hope to involve many of the newer members in leadership roles. Their energy and involvement, I feel, is necessary to keep KCRSCCA one of the top regions in the nation. Greg Cheney
I’ve been a Kansas City Region member since 2010. In that time I have served on the Solo Advisory Committee, RallyCross Advisory Committee, and an at-large Board member for the last 4 years. I am now running for Region Secretary. I want to continue to serve this great organization.
Along with these duties I have chaired multiple autocross and rallycross events, served as a novice chair, tech chair Solo Safety Steward and RallyCross Safety Steward.
BOARD AT LARGE:
Max Bear
I started doing Autox in 2019 and then Rallycross in 2020, and since then I have become even more involved in the SCCA and with the other neighboring programs such as Kansas region, Witchita region, and recently Nebraska region. In 2022 I was awarded “Rallycrosser of the Year” for all the hard work, and dedication I put into the program that year.
In 2023, I accepted the role of chief of timing for the Autox program this led to being awarded free entry to an SCCA time trials event at Ozark International Raceway where I had an amazing first experience with time trials. I was awarded “The Spirit of Time Trials” at that event as well as first place in the Sport 5 class. I am excited to help grow the SCCA and continue having fun with cars.
Josh Huff
I first joined the SCCA in 2021 after attending my first Autocross event in Salina. I had no idea what to expect but I was not prepared for how friendly and helpful everyone was to a newcomer, especially considering my experience with other “car people.” Since then I have made it my goal to be the reason other new drivers decide to come out and have fun with cars. I hope that with your vote I am able to continue to grow our region while focusing on our core values of excellence, service, experience, and stewardship. I have represented Kansas City region at Spring Nationals and Nationals. As a entrepreneur, I have a vision to the club locally and eventually participate in road racing.
Dan Rowland
I joined The Kansas City Sports Car Club of America in August 2013. After attending my first event, I was hooked. I bought a set of Re-11’s and ran as many events as I could until I left Kansas City to study Mechanical Engineering at Kansas State University. I soon found out about Formula SAE and I made it a goal to be involved and to learn how to build racecars. I was involved with the program for 5 years throughout college and I held several leadership positions during my tenure there including suspension design lead and chief engineer.
Over the years, I became more involved with Salina Region SCCA through the Formula team. I helped the Formula team chair an Autocross event once a year, where we were responsible for course design and setup. I attended region meetings and helped with trailer cleanouts. During my final year on the team, I was able to help bring Powercat Motorsports their first endurance finish in over 10 years, the second in the history of the program.
In the years after, I have volunteered at FSAE competitions as a course worker and as an instructor at the Street survival school at Heartland Park. After graduation, I focused on finding a new competitive AutoCross car and participating in my first RallyCross events. Now, 4 years later, I just finished competing in my 3rd Solo Nationals, this year in Solo Spec Coupe. I’m looking forward to more seat time, getting involved and having fun with cars!

Andrew Von Bevern
I joined SCCA 2020 doing autocross. Before that I supported my son in misc. racing, drifting and car hobbies as pit crew and trailer hauling. Before that my racing was confined to high school street racing in the mid 1970’s
I am now retired and exploring better car build, Kswap on a 1985 MR2 AW11 for autocross and track racing. Last year I did win STS class, mostly due to me showing up to more events than other folks, now I am XB class and working on improving my abilities.
I do have a current goal of beating my son in at least one autocross solo event.
Alexander Von Bevern
I’m the driver of the #4 Blue XB MR-2, previously the #4 XSB 280zx, and occasionally the #4 SSC BRZ. Now in my 3rd season with SCCA I am looking for ways to get more involved.
Before joining and driving with SCCA I started with the Kansas City Drift Association (KCDA) in 2014 as a volunteer, driver, and part of the drifting community for about 6 years. During my time with KCDA I actually swore off joining the SCCA because I thought I was too cool for autocross and “grip driving” as I called it at the time. But one autocross event 3 years ago changed all of that; since then, I’ve sold my drift car to build a Solo Spec Coupe car and volunteered to help create solo related content for the Kansas City Region SCCA social media platforms. The great community of people here in Kansas City has really hooked me and made me want to share our autocross program with as many people as possible.
I hope that if elected to the Solo Advisory Committee I can use the opportunity to find more ways to bring new people into the program both as volunteers and drivers.
