The Kansas City Region sported a beautiful, mid 70s day for Event 2. 150 drivers congregated to compete. Many classes had close battles and the only one not having any fun was one mamma bird whose nest is close to the port-o-johns.
Let me back up and reiterate something for just a moment. There were 150 drivers! In my recollection, that may very well be the largest event we’ve had here in the Kansas City region.
KCR has national level drivers and even a few national champions and thus we have great competition. In the Classic American Muscle class, Patrick Darling edged out the next fastest driver by 7/100s of a second to take 1st in class. Only 1.5 seconds separated 1st from 5th!
Even though there was a great deal of friendly trash talking, Jake Diehl won out in Street Modified over his co-driver Jeff Evans.
Junior Karts and the Novice class were once again loaded with drivers with Sam Hitchcock beating Alexander Hesskamp by a mere 3/10th of a second in Jr Karts A and Matthew Sebelski took home a 1st place win in the Novice class driving his 2003 Ford Focus SVT.
The next event here in Kansas City will take place on June 5, 2016, but don’t forget about the “Capture the Flag” Rally this coming weekend on April 24th and the Midwest Divisional Event at Heartland Park, Topeka next week, taking place between April 29th and May 1st. You can sign up for both of these events by clicking the links just above.
Happy racing all!
