MEMBERSHIP REPORT: (Paula Diehl, Membership Chair)  Members 571 SCCA. 6 new first time members for the month.

SOLO REPORT: (Al Hermans)
Next event currently scheduled for May 31st. Is it a go? 15 entries as of today.

We are waiting to hear back from MCC about the MCC event on May 31th. They should be back to the campus once KCMO is allowed to reopen. We are optimistic we can hold the event.

SCCA has announced a new set of event guidelines that we will need to implement.

First divisional event still on for May 16th and 17th at Heartland Motorsports Park in Shawnee County. Waiting to hear on guidelines on if the State will allow that event to proceed.

Discussion on cancelations.

STREET SURVIVAL REPORT: (Paula Diehl)
Should we postpone the currently scheduled event on May 30th to later in the year? The board agrred that the event will be postponed to later this fall. Could the solo group provide dates so we can work with MCC on site. Week before Halloween? Details to follow.

Mike, did everyone get the Karri Speed  at SCCA email with new Covid 19 guidelines for all events, Autocross, RallyCross, Road Race, and Time Trials and Track events?  Since our next events are Autocross and RallyCross Mike McGinley tasked each Advisory group to review guidelines and implement their plans and report back to the Board. Al Hermans and Dan Colburn said they should accomplish this within a week. Since supplies need to be purchased and the sourcing could take weeks instead of days time is of the essence.

TREASURER REPORT: (Jessica Dorn)

March 2020

Starting Cash:              $16,214.25
Starting CD  $89,250.54
Ending CD  $89,320.21
Ending Cash:              $16,625.09
Ending Balance  $105,945.30

There were discussions about outstanding bills and billing questions on SCCA Weekend memberships. Jessica answered the Boards questions. Tim Friest inquired if the car market was depressed enough to purchase a new van. Mike McGinley replied that he is buying vehicles every week for local dealerships and the market has dropped $2,000-$3,000 per vehicle, but not enough to justify accelerating our purchase timeline.

Al made the motion to approve the Treasurer’s report, Greg second, all approved.

KVRG REPORT: (Chris Kern)
A U.S. Super Tour and MiDive Time Trials Series event coming May29-31 at Gateway in St Louis. Since the track is in Illinois it is still questionable if that event will proceed as planned. Currently 52 entered.

Hallett has a COMMA event (Vintage racing) end of May, but not sure at this time if it will occur, end of June seems better.

KVRG  has our first event, the Majors race and MiDiv Time Trials Series event scheduled for July 17th, 18th, and 19th at Heartland Motorsports Park in Topeka. The event will feature a test day and Track Night in America on Friday and racing and TT on Saturday and Sunday.  We are still waiting on information from the states but feel confident we will have this event. Chris asked for workers.

RALLY CROSS REPORT: (Dan Colburn/Reuben)
Next event is scheduled for May 3rd and it will be postponed.  Site is ready to go but we will move forward for a future time once we are ready to implement Covid-19 protocols. Committee to work on the first event date and get back to the Board.

Mike need results for Rallycross 1, Rueben waiting on access for one correction which is necessary.

Web Report: (Mike McGinley)
Track Night in America Grant program is cancelled for 2020.

Our website maintenance contract is up for renewal. It will be $350/mo. vs. $300/mo. previously. The new contract would run from June 2020-May 2021. We will have some money roll into June since there has not been much work in March, April and May.  Tim a motion to accept, Rueben second. Passed all.

Lisa Kern mentioned the calendar on the website is not up to date and we need it to be current. Mike McGinley said he would be updating all event info on the website after the meeting and he would forward the information to Lisa to update the calendar.

COMMITTEES
Social Events: (Lisa Kern)
Ideas for location of General Meeting in June since Local Tap is closing?  May General Meeting is cancelled in compliance with current local laws. Race Group meeting might be possible pending regulations. Lisa suggested having the June General Meeting at the Bar on Johnson Dr. Will be looking for other spaces.

2021 Award banquet Committee report:
Postponed until after “Stay at home” orders are lifted.

Looking onto having the KCR event at the same venue as MiDiv Convention. More to come.

OLD BUSINESS:
2020 Budget Discussion:

Board of Directors website page: 2 have yet to complete our page. Please send your info to RE

New Business:
Discussion about new ideas for engagement during racing downtime.

  • I-Racing- Jeremy to give update.
    • Jeremy, have been doing some I-racing and posted on Facebook. Is there something we could put on the Checkpoint. They normally race on Saturday night. Check out Facebook for details.
  • Virtual car show? Classes? Prizes?
    • Could we post pictures give a time and place to post. Facebook?
    • Or, other venue. Could we use our website, by having a email to send to and then a vote via Google.
    • Do we use hashtags like National office is doing?
    • Will table this idea depending on opening the economy.
  • Membership survey? Each Board Member give your view on what you hear.
    • Board members were asked to give their input on event attendance in the future based on current economic conditions and fear of Covid 19. Different groups have different age demographics. We will need to make sure all SCCA members feel confident that we are doing everything possible to keep everyone safe at our events.
    • We need strong quality events versus trying to have to many events for this year, to make participants feel comfortable.
    • There will be reluctance for workers and participants given guidelines for those at risk by CDC.
  • Modifications for our events for member safety? Advisory Committees, are you prepared?
    • Discussed throughout the meeting.
  • Who wrote an article for Checkpoint this month? Mike McGinley would like each of us to do one per quarter.

Chris – Shall we do Zoom for general meetings and Bod? Rueben has Zoom or WedX, could even post for others to view. Shall we try May 5th?

Could we have a happy hour just to get together and an update with what the club is doing.

Next Tuesday Cinco De Mayo, 7:30. Mike and Jessica will get the information out. Rueben to setup the WebX.

Call for motion to adjourn

8:52 Tim made a motion, Greg second passed unanimously.

Respectfully submitted,
Edward Nicholson
SCCA Board Secretary
