The SCCA provides training and licensing in all the specialties required to run road racing events. Novices start with a regional license in the specialty of their choice and, with experience, may upgrade to divisional and national status. Whatever your age or interest, there will be a place for you, whether it be standing out on corners as an F&C worker or crunching numbers with the timing and scoring personnel.

There’s also the challenging ProSolo series, which features a drag racing start and competition on mirror image courses and offers awards to event winners and year-end champions.

It’s big fun and a great way to get involved in SCCA without having a racecar. Two or more people, in ordinary cars, on regular roads, within the legal speed limit, make up a rally team. The challenge is to drive on time — not early or late (it’s not a race), while following the directions given. The directions can be simple (turn left on Main Street) or difficult (just past Johnson family mailbox, turn North). More than anything, road rallies require patience and teamwork, just like racing.
