Be a participant--not just a fan! Kansas City Region SCCA makes it easy for you to get onto the racetrack in a friendly, club atmosphere. No matter what your motorsports interest, there's a program to match in the Sports Car Club of America. Whether it's competition driving, working the course or race administration, SCCA puts you in the middle of the action - here's a few ways to get started!
Club Racing
Here's amateur racing at its best. There are classes for street cars, formula cars and sports racers. For the budget-conscious, there is the SCCA Spec Racer Ford©, along with Improved Touring classes for slightly modified low-cost street cars and the popular Formula Vee open-wheel class. You get the training you need at SCCA Driver Schools and can choose competition at either Regional or National events in your area. National champions are crowned each October at the famed SCCA National Runoffs© now held at the newly restored Heartland Park Topeka - our home track.
How to get started - click here to visit the Club Racing page and decide what sort of car you're interested in. Then come to a Club Meeting and talk to any of the drivers.
Solo
The fastest man or woman wins as you test your driving skills around the pylons. There are classes for all types of street and race cars and competition is as relaxed or intense as you wish. National Champions are crowned each year at the Tire Rack SCCA Solo II National Championship in Topeka, Kansas. There's also the challenging ProSolo2 series, which features a drag racing start and competition on mirror image courses and offers awards to event winners and year-end champions.
How to get started - click here to visit the Solo page and bring your car to our next Solo event!
Road Rally
The easiest way to start with SCCA. All that's needed is a street-legal, licensed and insured car, truck, van, or whatever. Road Rallies are conducted on public roads at or below the legal speed limit and are not races--the goal is to get from the start to the finish in as close to the prescribed time as possible.
How to get started - click here to visit the Rally page and come to our next event.
Performance Drving Experience (PDX)
Drive your own street car at Heartland Park - Topeka's world-famous road race course! Minimal car preparation and no previous experience are necessary. A great way to get started on the race track.
How to get started - click here to check the Calendar of Events for the date of our next PDX.
Workers & Officials Programs
Getting involved as a worker or official is as easy as going to one of our Club Races and volunteering to help. Workers are issued a license just like the competition drivers, and can work their way up through the levels of licenses by participating at different events and gaining the knowledge and experience necessary to hold a national specialty license. SCCA workers help staff most of the motorsport events held in the United States.
How to get started - click here to visit the Volunteer page to get an idea of what you're interested in doing. Then come to a Club meeting and talk to any of the members, or you can come to any of our race weekends to have a look around before you commit yourself.
