The 2017 Club Racing, RallyCross, and Solo seasons are all set to start this coming weekend. Our events are frequently a family affair with participants and spectators alike bringing their children to enjoy the racing action and the camaraderie. For events in which spectators can be secured from the competition and grid area, no SCCA waiver is required, but since this is seldom possible at Club Racing events, and won’t be possible for RallyCross and Solo events, all persons in attendance will need to sign the SCCA Event Waiver or obtain an SCCA Annual Waiver hard card.

While this is not news for most regulars, one big change for 2017 is the requirements for minor waivers. In order for those under 18 years of age to attend events, they must have a completed SCCA Minor Annual Waiver that is either notarized or witnessed by an SCCA offical. Moreover, the waiver form must be signed by both parents, or a single parent may provide documentation that they are the sole guardian of the minor. We understand that this is an hindrance to the spontaneous visits by some parents and their minor children, but with a little forward planning it will be easy for minors to attend any event for the entire 2017 season.

This coming Saturday, March 18th, the RallyCross program begins its season at the Thunder Valley Sand Drags in Grain Valley, MO, and on Sunday, March 19th, the Solo program will hold its first Test & Tune event at the Metropolitan Community College Precision Driving Center in Independence, MO. Stop by either of these events to complete your child’s SCCA Minor Annual Waiver, and we’ll see to its submission to the National Office, or you can mail in your completed notarized form. Once submitted, the National Office will mail to your minor their own hard card that they can use at every event for the entire 2017 season.

If you can’t come by one of our events this coming weekend, the Solo program will be back in action on Saturday and Sunday, April 1st and 2nd, at the Providence Medical Center Amphitheater in Bonner Springs, MO. You are also welcome to attend the General Meeting at 7:30pm on Tuesday, April 4th, at the Lifted Spirits Distillery in Kansas City, MO.
