Who’s ready for a great year of fast cars, fun and fellowship? It’s all in the plan for 2019. I know all of the programs are hard at work getting the schedules for this year finalized. We have already held one event: The Go-Kart Challenge at the General Membership meeting on the 8th of January. As luck did have it, there were no other customers at the Xtreme Racing Venue in Raytown, MO, so we had the whole place to ourselves. The Road racers definitely brought their “game”. The autocrossers held tight but in the end were edged out. Winning the three foot trophy and bragging rights for some time : First Dave Vincent, second, John Griffith, and third Tim Friest. A great evening. Thanks to all who raced and made it so much fun.

The Formula 500 road racers dominated in the karts. Tim Friest (right) 3rd, John Griffith (left) 2nd, and David Vincent (center) in 1st.

I would be remiss not to mention our Board members and officers for the coming year. Vice-Chair: Tim Friest, Secretary Lisa Kern, Treasurer Jessica Dorn, Past RE Chris Kern, Board members: Mike McGinley, Todd Hesskamp, Tara Young and newly elected: Al Hermans, Bill Johnson, and Jeremy Salenius. Elected to the Solo Advisory Committee were Al Hermans and Christian Els. Elected to the RallyCross Advisory Committee were Reuben Samuels, Neftali Bloom and Dan Colburn. A huge thank you to all who serve and make this club as great as it is. Upcoming is the Annual Awards Banquet for Kansas City Region . This year it will be at the Deer Creek Golf Club. This event always highlights the best of our members and our club. Hope to see you there. Also coming up is the Midwest Division Convention February 8, 9, and 10th. It will be held again this year at the Hilton Garden Inn in Independence, Mo. Registration is still open on MotorsportsReg.com. The schedule is a great one with timing and scoring seminars, time trials information and a steward training session just to mention a few. Saturday evening will feature as guest speaker our very own Jim Wheeler. Friday evening 5 to 8 there will be a welcome reception which is open to all. What a great way to rehash the trials and triumphs of past seasons! I know you are eager to fire up those cars again, so check our website to get those event dates and get your calendars marked. If you do have any questions or concerns, please let any of those on our Boards know so we can fix.

Until next time, Safe travels and Happy Trails,
Paula Diehl
