Event #3 of the 2016 Kansas City Region SCCA Solo Championship is in the books and was filled with firsts. We had a huge field of cars and drivers and to manage them all we had four heats instead of the usual three. It was a long, hot day filled with challenges and some great class battles.

The majority of the CAM cars ran in Heat 2, and dominated the grid landscape.

The Classic American Muscle class came out in full force with a total of 21 drivers divvied up between the three classes and Keith Lamming came away with a First Place win in the largest of those groups the CAM-C class.

Continuing the trend for this season, the Novice Class had 17 drivers lead by Adam Penrod in his 1996 Miata who won First by a full second. James Bond, I mean Todd Hesskamp, pulled a win in STX by scoring a time ending in 0.007. The top five places in STX were separated by only six tenths of a second for some searing hot competition!

Finally, our own photog extraordinaire, J. Douglas Patterson, clinched a win with a blazing fast H Street time of 52.671.

That’s it for Event Three folks; tune in right back here for news on Event Four which takes place on July 3, 2016. Registration is open now at https://msreg.com/KCR2016Event4.
